This is a page which will give retailers all the information they need in order to make the right choice and stock STRANGEWAYS material heavily for their discriminating readers who demand the best in western and horror comicbook entertainment.
For instance, here is the cover of the MURDER MOON collection, by Steve Lieber, who you know from books like ROAD TO PERDITION, WHITEOUT and CIVIL WAR:
That book contains 144 pages of the very best of horror/western comics you’re gonna set eyes on. MURDER MOON contains two complete stories, as well as gallery art by Fábio Moon, Gabriel Bá (DAYTRIPPER, CASANOVA) and Guy Davis (BPRD, THE MARQUIS).
Here’s the first pages. Click to embiggen.
And here’s a representative page of artwork from the backup story, “Lone.”
MURDER MOON is 144 pages, b/w with a 13.95 price tag, 7″ by 10″ trim size, color cover. It is written by Matt Maxwell, with art by Luis Guragna and the team of Gervasio and Jok. It’s a horror book with a western setting, boiled down to the elevator pitch of “cowboys and werewolves.” It should find appeal among your Dark Horse, Vertigo and Avatar readers (though the content is pretty squarely in a PG-13 rating.) The violence is muted, favoring atmosphere and not gross-outs. It is available direct from the author, though Tony Shenton of Shenton Sales is repping the book to DM stores currently. It was previously carried by Diamond under the code JAN083670, but has since been discontinued. I will be seeking a re-solicitation of this book when the second one hits Diamond (see below.)
The second STRANGEWAYS book, entitled THE THIRSTY is currently being solicited to Diamond. Updates as to its status will be sent out when there’s information to update. It will be a 200-page B/W book, featuring the same art team, with Alex Sheikman (ROBOTIKA and THE DARK CRYSTAL, both from Archaia) providing covers and some spot illustrations on the interior.
The third STRANGEWAYS book is entitled THE LAND WILL KNOW and has a full slate of artists. Details forthcoming (but I guarantee you’ve heard a few of them, if not all, depending on your location.)
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to write me. mattAThighway-62.com (replace the AT with an @, trying to spoof the spammers here.) If you’re a store who is currently served by Tony Shenton, please contact him directly. You already have his details.
I (again, the writer/creator) am available for signings/events along the west coast, other locations with sufficient time, though extreme travel will require a lot of planning.) I’m happy to do more than sign books, and would love to discuss my experience in publishing an independent book in the Direct Market or speak about horror fiction or even arm-wrestling for charity. Okay, maybe not that last one.
