Some changes afoot, some of them cemented by conversations at the recent APE show, some have just been festering for a long time.

Like the Joker said “If you’re good at something, never do it for free,” and so I’ve taken that to heart. I’m removing most of the MURDER MOON and THE THIRSTY pages from the site. If you want to read the rest of the book, you can go to Amazon or to your local retailer or bug me via email. I’ll be happy to sell you a copy for cover price plus postage (about three-four bucks a book in the continental US.) And for a nickel, I’ll tell you how many orders I’ll get before Christmas.

Hint. It’s a real number between one and negative one.

I’m looking at getting STRANGEWAYS to a proper digital delivery system (ie, *not* putting it up on the web and trying to drum up interest) but deadlines and family demand attention first.

Yeah, I’m a stinker for stopping in the middle of a scene much less the middle of a story, but them’s the breaks.

After all, it ain’t costing you anything but time.

You’ll all get the word when things get to rolling again.

The Thirsty – Chapter Two and miscellaneous http://strangeways.highway-62.com/?p=977 http://strangeways.highway-62.com/?p=977#comments Wed, 22 Feb 2012 16:00:42 +0000 maxwellm http://strangeways.highway-62.com/?p=977 Spent yesterday going to local retailers between dropping the kids off at school and then driving out to Elk Grove and Natomas and Downtown Sac. Ended up only able to hit three stores in the time I had (living in the hinterlands of El Dorado Hills means it’s a bit of a drive to anywhere). The upside was that all three places, Metropolis Comix, Comics and Collectibles and Big Brother Comics were all healthy stores with a wide variety of material on hand, not just Big Two and HELLBOY and WALKING DEAD.

Oh, and if you want to order your own copy of STRANGEWAYS: THE THIRSTY, just use the handy code FEB121066 to get one from your retailer. And even if you don’t make this month’s orders, you should be fine, since the book will be in stock until…well…for awhile at least. That’s 200 pages of comics for 17.95, which is something like 36.00 worth of regular comics at $4 a pop.

Chapter 2 of THE THIRSTY will resume next week. The rest of this week will be extras and such. If you have a question, hit me up on the Twitter via @highway_62 and I’ll run ‘em here. All three of ‘em.

I’ll probably start running Part Two in fairly short order, but things are not so great over here at Strangeways Central, mostly for due to a big cloud of things out of my control, which you, fortunately, don’t need to be burdened with. It does mean that I’ll only be at a handful of shows, mostly local-ish, at least for the foreseeable future. Doubt that Heroes or SDCC is in the cards. Maybe things will be settled by Baltimore, maybe not.

Wonder-Con, Stumptown and probably APE. Maybe some other smaller shows. I’ll put out a call for a table to crash at (once again) at Emerald City, but that show (rightly) has become more popular on the circuit than it has capacity for, at least on the exhibitor side of things.

To update, discussions with Diamond were fruitless. They’re carrying book two of a series (that being THE THIRSTY) but won’t stock book one (that being MURDER MOON.)

Comics.
